Musharraf's ECL plea: SHC seeks govt reply on May 7

TOP NEWS

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has sought replies from the federal government and other authorities concerned on May 7 regarding removal of Pervez Musharraf’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported Wednesday.

During the hearing of a case concerning Musharraf’s removal from ECL, Attorney General of Pakistan Salman Aslam Butt said the court notice was received yesterday, hence at least 15 days should be given to file a reply. He had turned up in the proceedings following court orders.

Lawyer indicted ex-president Pervez Musharraf, Barrister Farogh Naseem presented his arguments before the two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Shahnawaz Tariq.

He said the matter was sensitive, therefore the decision of the case should be pronounced in one or two proceedings.

He also opposed granting period of 15 days to the government, terming it ‘too long’ time given the sensitivity of the case.

The court sought answers from relevant authorities and adjourned the hearing till May 7, 2014.
