‘Highway’ shot almost without a script

TOP NEWS

According to Press Trust of India Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali said most of the scenes of his forthcoming film ‘Highway’ were shot without a script.

The 42-year-old director claims he avoided coming up with pre-written dialogues as he wanted them to be influenced by the places they visited, so the sequences blend more with the surroundings.

In an interview to Press Trust of India, Imtiaz said, “I had a story in my mind but we shot the film almost without a script. I knew what the purpose of a particular scene was but I did not have finished dialogues for it. So, these places influenced the script a lot. I let the story be rather than imposing myself on it.”

“When you don’t have written dialogues, you have to come up with something that is not only interesting to watch but connects to a particular scene. It should flow like a journey. I often thought ‘I hope I will be able to come up with something’. Those insecurities were there.”

‘Highway’, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, will feature Alia Bhatt opposite Randeep Hooda. The film, which is slated to release on February 21st, 2014, will be screened at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival.
