ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali has summoned a joint meeting of the government and Taliban negotiating committees to discuss the progress in the peace talks, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to a report of the state television the two committees will review progress in the process of talks. The two sides will also discuss Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan's refusal to extend the ceasefire.

The negotiating teams will also formulate future strategy for the peace process.

It is the first meeting of the two sides after TTP said nay to the ceasefire. Taliban however left the door open for talks with the government. The government has also preferred dialogue with the militants to curb terrorism in the country.
