SHC hears bail pleas of Dr. Asim, others in terrorist facilitation case

KARACHI: The counsels of Dr. Asim Hussain, Rauf Siddiqui, Anees Qaimkhani and Usman Muazzim argued before a bench of the Sindh High Court over bail petitions of their clients in terrorism facilitation case on Friday.

A division bench of high court comprised of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi heard the case.

The lawyers of Dr Asim and other accused contended that their clients have been booked in cases on hypothetical grounds. Their clients didn’t facilitate medical treatment of the terrorists and criminals.

The lawyers also complained that their clients being subjected to political victimization.

The bench issued notices to the special public prosecutor and others to submit their replies.

The court adjourned the hearing on bail petitions till November 1st.

The accused have filed bail petitions in SHC against July 19 order of an Anti Terrorism Court.

Earlier, various benches of the high court judges had refused to hear the bail plea of Dr Asim and other accused in the case pertaining to providing medical treatment to the terrorists and referred the petitions to the chief justice of Sindh High Court for a new bench for the hearing.
