ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police on Friday briefly detained singer Salman Ahmed from outside Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s residence ahead of November 2 protest, ARY News reported.

Interestingly, the former ‘Junoon’ singer claimed that soon after his arrest,  he managed to escape as the police van was not properly shut.

On the other hand, Islamabad police spokesperson claimed that singer was released on orders of the IG Islamabad.

Earlier, a group of policemen was seen dragging him and throwing him into a police van. While, he kept shouting as to what crime he has committed.

Talking to ARY News, Salman Ahmad─ who has remained a staunch PTI supporter since the party’s inception─ maintained that he was stopped and made to come out of his car by the cops, who later arrested him.

PTI’s November 2 protest

It is pertinent to note here that PTI has announced to stage a protest sit-in in the federal capital on November 2.

Khan wants Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to face an inquiry into Panama papers scandal or tender his resignation.

PTI chairman had already clarified that this time, the siege of the federal capital would continue until the resignation of PM or his readiness to face inquiry.

“This protest is for all of Pakistan, this protest is to show the global community that just like Iceland and the UK held their leaders accountable, the people of Pakistan too are ready for real democracy where these pseudo democrats are brought to the corridors of accountability and justice,” PTI had announced on its Facebook page.
