Quetta: Blast near polio centre kills 14, injures 8

According to hospital sources 14 people were killed in the blast. As per details, windows of nearby buildings shattered due to the blast. As many as 14 people were killed, among which 12 were policemen. Sources also revealed that as many as eight people were injured in the blast, who were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment. A heavy contingent of police was called in at the scene of the blast.

According to Rescue sources, the  policemen  were deployed for the security of polio vaccination teams. IG Balochistan stated that a suicide blast could not be ruled out. IG Balochistan also confirmed policemen were the target of the blast.

Home Minister Balochistan issued a statement saying that they had to protect their people. He also directed IG Balochistan to submit a report regarding the blast to him.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif condemned the bomb blast. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan Army had destroyed terrorists’ hideouts. He also said the government was determined in its mission to eliminate extremism from the country.
