Punjab revises pay scales of employees

Governor of Punjab has approved notifications for revising the salaries and pay packages of the government employees. The provincial government has revised the allowances of employees after seven to eight years. The employees, however, are not satisfied with the margin of raise in allowances claiming that the hike in salaries is meagre in comparison to the increasing inflation.

According to the notification, the government has revised the conveyance allowance of the employees of grade1-2 from existing Rs 12 per day to Rs 150, for grade 3-5 from Rs 15 to Rs 150 and the conveyance allowance for working on weekly off days will be Rs 190 per day. The government has also announced Special Conveyance Allowance of Rs 1000 for disabled persons in addition to the regular conveyance allowance.

The government has also doubled Hill Allowance for the employees working in Murree, Kotli Sattian and Kahuta. The province has also announced 10 percent raise in adhoc relief allowance of the basic salary for the employees.

Provincial government has enhanced salaries of contract employees of grade-17 from existing Rs 70,000 to 80,000, while salaries of grade-12 contractual employees have been increased from Rs 20,000 to 26,000.

Moreover, the government has increased the deputation allowance and additional charge allowance of the employees from Rs 6000 to 12000. The washing allowance has been revised from Rs 100 to Rs 150 and dress allowance from Rs 100 to Rs 150, announcement said.

After revision of the salaries the maximum basic salary of grade one government employee will be Rs 14,840 and in grade-22 the package will be Rs 1,36,720 per month.
