Bilawal described government’s move of putting former premiers Yousuf Raza Gillani and Raja Pervez Ashraf’s name on the ECL as ‘political victimization’. He said the government must be ashamed of this act.

He clarified that the PPP can’t be blackmailed through putting its members’ names on ECL.

The matter of including the names of Gillani and Ashraf came to light yesterday. Sources within the Ministry of Interior said that the step was taken upon the request of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The NAB had reportedly asserted that if the two leave the country then there will be a huge delay in the cases against them, while Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan did not order to strike off the names in his review of the ECL.

Both former premiers are booked in several cases under trial in accountability courts. They also face multiples inquiries for their alleged involvement in corruption and mismanagement during their respective tenures.
