Ghauri tweeted “Pakistan Zindabad” on August 22 but reports soon emerged that he apologised over the tweet during Altaf Hussain’s speech to MQM USA.

The MQM leader today messaged ARY News anchor Waseem Badami that he only apologised over breaching party discipline as party leaders are not allowed to tweet without permission.

It is pertinent to mention here that MQM chief in his August 22 speech reportedly urged his party members to raise Pakistan Murdabad (death to Pakistan) slogans and incited them to attack media houses.

The speech resulted in an attack on ARY News Karachi office while the anti-Pakistan tirade was widely condemned, forcing the party to dissociate itself from his statements.

A number of MQM leaders including Rashid Godil and Ghauri did Pakistan Zindabad tweets while Irum Azeem Farooque and Dr Amir Liaquat left the party citing the same reason. Amir Liaquat today also urged the party to completely dissociate itself from Altaf Hussain.
