A LHC bench heard a petition in which it was pleaded that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is refusing to accept the Hajj applications of women, upto the age limit of 45 years, who wish to perform the religious pilgrimage alone.

Director Hajj, in his answer to the court, said that the restriction has been imposed on the recommendation of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII).

The bench remarked that if the recommendations of the body are to be accepted than other matters should also be decided as per the recommendations of the CII .

The judge ordered the religious ministry to file an answer in the case by July 26th.
