On the occasion of its founding day or Yaum-e-Tasees, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf conducted a very large public gathering at Islamabad’s F-9 park. However, the event was marred by an ugly incident when the women’s enclosure was breached by many male PTI workers who harassed women at the venue. Scenes of women crying and wailing were also caught on camera.
PTI chairman Imran Khan took notice of the incident and apologised to the female members of his party who were subjected to the harsh behaviour. In a series of tweets, Khan took to his Twitter account, tendered an apology and ensured accountability for all those who were responsible for harassing the women at the rally.
I want to apologise to all our women for what happened to them at the Youm-i-Tahsees jalsa in Islamabad. 1/3

2/3 I have set up a committee which will examine what happened incl seeing video evidence so that the guilty can be punished. — Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) April 26, 2016
3/3 We will not allow this to ever happen again & we are ensuring strict measures to protect our women at our jalsas, beginning with Lahore.

In Islamabad our crowds were too big and the space too small. In future we will ensure foolproof arrangements so nothing untoward happens. — Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) April 26, 2016
