Four Afghan cops, several suspects arrested in Karachi

The arrested Afghan cops were identified as Aminullah, Muhammad Aziz, Abdul Ghaffar and Hikmatullah. Police lodged a case against them for illegally entering into Pakistan.

All the four suspects hailed from Ghazni, Afghanistan and they had come to Karachi by illegally crossing the border three months ago. Officials are further investigating the suspects about the purpose of their illicit stay in the country.

In the afternoon today, Rangers produced a suspected target killer before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and obtained 90-day custody of him.

The suspect named Mohsin alias Lamba was arrested from Korangi yesterday, who was said to be affiliated with a political party and involved in the killing of ten people.

A spokesperson for Rangers said that apart from extortion and targeting of law enforcers, the suspect was also involved in an assassination attempt on MQM-Haqiqi chief Afaq Ahmed.

In raids conducted in Gulshan-e-Haider and Pathan Colony, paramilitary personnel nabbed four more suspects affiliated with banned outfits and seized weapons from them.

Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel after a brief exchange of fire apprehended three suspects from Nishtar Road namely Aqib alias Murghi Wala, Qasim alias Bajji and Izhar alias Kala.

The suspects during initial investigation confessed to have killed a cop in Jamshed Quarters area and extorting money from traders.
