3G,4G Auction: Zong wins both licenses; Govt generates $1.182bn

ISLAMABAD: The result of 3G, 4G spectrum auction has been announced, government generating $1.182 billion from auction, ARY News reported.

Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Dr. Ismail Shah announced the results.

As per results announced by Chairman PTA, China Mobile (Zong) has won 10 Mhz for 3G as well as  10Mhz for 4G, Mobilink has won 10Mhz for 3G spectrum while PTML (Ufone) and Telenor Pakistan have won 5Mhz for 3G spectrum each.

Ufone had also showed interest in license for 4G spectrum but since they didn't win 10Mhz hence remained unqualified for 4G spectrum.

Chairman PTA said that one unsold 4G spectrum will be sold with-in couple of months.

Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister for IT and Telecom Anusha Rehman were also present on the occasion.

Ishaq Dar congratulated Chairman PTA for the successful auction.
